Science Magazine - This elite journal for researchers and scientists dedicated its March 2001 issue to nutrients, biology, and science related to biologically-active sugars. This journal is technical in nature and contains many biochemical drawings and equations that are understandable to biochemists, but quite difficult for "laypeople" to understand. |

New Scientist - "...sugars are involved in almost every aspect of biology, from recognizing pathogens, to blood clotting, to enabling sperm to penetrate an ovum. The list of things they are already known to do include regulating the half-life of hormones in the blood, directing embryonic development, and acting as "address codes" for directing traffic of various cells and proteins throughout the body..."
