This website is dedicated to critically necessary nutrients, but as important as good nutrition is, we have to admit that nutrition takes a back seat to air, which is the most precious of all resources. Fresh air assists with proper blood circulation, refreshes the body, sharpens the mind, improves digestion, and promotes quality sleep. Without air, our brain cells begin to die within about five or six minutes. We must therefore (obviously) breathe continuously.

Fresh, clean air is so precious, and it is unfortunately becoming a scarcity in many areas. Efforts to preserve pure air are commendable, whether tree planting, emissions laws, or technologies that minimize pollution.

Deep-breathing is very good for our health. One of the reasons that aerobic exercise is so beneficial is that it promotes deep-breathing. We would also do well by taking 10-20 deep breaths per hour of fresh air.

Of course, avoiding impure air is also important. Pollutants, noxious fumes, and harmful chemicals are all detrimental. Smoking also wreaks havoc with our lungs' capacity and ability to capture the benefits of pure air.

Getting lots of good, clean air is required for optimal health. We need it every day for the rest of our lives.
